Scary Halloween Decorating Ideas

Halloween isn't just the time for kids' trick or treat. Adults can have some fun in this season, too. It's that time of the year when you and your friends have the excuse to dress up in your scariest outfits and just enjoy the night away. If you want to transform your home for this kind of fun, here are some scary Halloween party ideas.
Use a light fog machine in the main party area to set a backdrop of eeriness. If you've got a limited budget, you can improvise by putting some dry ice in water and fan it out into the area.
If you want the theme of creepiness to be on a subtle level, just dim the lights and place candles in strategic places in the room. You can put some candles in hollowed-out pumpkins of all sizes. If you wish to use floating candles, you can do so by putting some water in the pumpkin. You can just hang cobwebs that you can buy in fun houses and costume shops that sell Halloween party supplies. You can create your own cobwebs by using soft yarn or cotton pieces that are separated into thin threads.
But if you want something that's really frightening, you can recreate scenes from classic horror or suspense films in every area of your home that will be used by your guests. For instance, you can make your powder room or bathroom look like a scene of a murder. Splatter some fake blood in the tub and the bathroom walls. You can create your own fake blood by mixing corn syrup and red food coloring. Add water if the consistency is too thick. You can even hang an old shower curtain that you plan to replace and slash it a few times.
Remember to ask all guests to be in scary Halloween costumes. To encourage everyone to do so, have a costume contest where the winner gets a nice prize. You can even state in your invitation that there's a creepy penalty to anyone who won't be wearing a costume.
Of course, don't forget to play music that will make the hairs on your nape stand. Rachmaninoff's Prelude Op. 3 No. 2 in C-sharp minor is said to be about death and the composer's fear of drowning. Aside from that, it was played in the film The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005). Danse Macabre by Saint-Saƫns is another tune you'd want to play for your party.
